Tongue tie, also known as ankyloglossia, is a condition caused by a short, tight band of tissue (the lingual frenulum) ties the bottom of the tongue to the mouth floor. This restricts movement and free use of the tongue, and can cause problems with breastfeeding, dental development, speech development and more.
